https://paa.neocities.org - Suggestions: TechGeekNerd@duck.com --------------------------------------- I'm an Installer who has installed Linux Distros about 300 times (+/-) since 2010. None of the units I've done (past; present) have had even a sneeze; glitch free. Everyone I've done paid work for, has my (35 year old) email address, and are encouraged to contact me concerning any glitches or issues. I send out a group email every few years, with step by step update/upgrade procedures. Most reply back, thankful for exposing them to FOSS World, and saying it's no longer necessary to babysit them; that they got it now! Now, I'd like to take the credit, but honestly, it has only to do with me following a simple step by step pattern; it has nothing to do with my skills; anyone can have the same results. If a user develops a glitch doing it this way, it's typically hardware related, or they downloaded outside the Software Manager. --------------------------------------- Here's those steps: 1: I only install a reputable proven Linux Distro like Linux Mint Cinnamon (LMC), and I always do a sum check to confirm the LMC ISO was/is legit. https://paa.neocities.org/img/iso.jpg 2: I always install only on systems with all Intel Inside; no mixing with AMD or Nvidia. Some have success with these G/CPU's on a dual boot, but I follow all the Linux-based sub-Reddits, and other Forums, for a decade+ and can attest to the uncountable posts by users with glitches on these systems. 3: I clear the OS drive first, by using the install media itself (I once had Gparted only, on a CD that I'd run first, but that program is on the Installation OS). After LMC launches, do not install it yet; first open the Gparted program, and use it to clear all partitions, so it's recognized by Installation as an unpartitioned drive, allowing it to create any partitions it deems necessary. Multiple Partitions are a relic of the past when drives were small and slow and expensive, so all units came with only one HDD. 4: No non-Linux dual boots, as I do not install those, I repair systems by first removing them if present. If a user "needs" MS just have two units. Most FOSS Techs consider Windows & Apple to BE malware! Trust them at your own risk. I have EXT4 & FAT disk formats only on all my drives. Dual boot 2 Linux Distros? Yes! https://paa.neocities.org/img/disk.jpg --------------------------------------- If I'm only advising I'll suggest a dedicated Installation Tool (created by Techs) to all non-Tech users: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=linux+installation+usb https://www.amazon.com/s?k=windows+installation+usb https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 PS: If you're using Firefox (on Linux anyway): highlight; right-click; Open Link in New Tab. --------------------------------------- uBlock Origin - My Filters list: https://facebook.com/ www.facebook.com/ www.foxnews.com/ https://twitter.com/ www.twitter.com/ www.x.com/ https://x.com/ https://instagram.com/ www.instagram.com/ www.whatsapp.com/ www.tiktok.com/ {This blocks these sites in case I accidentally click on one of them; they're malware to this Tech ;-}.. --------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- Special Section; Streaming Sports: First, I strongly recommend installing uBlock Origin (https://ublockorigin.com); it prevents issues users face on these sometimes pop-up ad-ridden stream sites, interfering with streams. For MLB it's gostreameast (dot) link For NFL it's: reddit (dot) nflbite (dot) com Those doing the rebroadcasts are the ones violating rights here, not those who just tune in. MLB & NFL are fully aware of these streams; they've been streaming for over a decade now, and would not have lasted a month if either league had issues with them. They know that people want to watch their local teams; team blackouts are to appease Big Cable who have exclusive rights to broadcast local games. MLB has heard from me and thousands of others, for years about this blackout crap, but they're too fat on Big Cable contracts; that's why the leagues look the other way with these.
